PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Specialist III works in collaboration with Production Solutions Management, outside vendors and teammates to coordinate and develop instructions for various electronic publishing applications, quality checks, and processes. The position offers project recommendations, brainstorms new processes, and recommends and tests new software relevant to department strategy. The position manages and leads the team and outside contractors regarding all departmental processes associated with the production management of products and client relations. Using both PC and MAC platforms (and corresponding desktop publishing software), the Specialist III coordinates the electronic formatting and editorial revisions to marked up documents such as corporate newsletters, fund reports, performance pages, informational brochures, posters and sales presentations for external use by outside clients.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Possesses extensive print and graphic industry knowledge and insight required to work independently on typesetting edits, formatting page layouts and pre-press specifications for T. Rowe Price printed related materials by utilizing a variety of software products including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect , QuarkXpress, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Adheres to desktop publishing formatting standards and procedures.
* Directly manages Electronic Publishing print related documents and projects. Provides client with all aspects of one on one project management and is able to independently meet customer print expectations and deadlines. Attends client meetings and provides guidance and instruction with job specific design inquiries. Logs own work in and out of the department database as necessary.
* Partners with Electronic Publishing supervisors and leads teammates in developing instructions for various applications and processes; develops and maintains procedure manuals, as well as offers project recommendations, brainstorms new processes, and recommends and tests new software relevant to the department strategy. Manages and leads team and outside contractors on Electronic Publishing projects to meet customer expectations and deadlines. Provides project management and quality review for assigned projects and workflows. Supervises Electronic Publishing interns and trains new and existing customers, Specialists, and freelance consultants.
* Participates in self-development by setting goals and objectives and scheduling training on new software, hardware, products and procedures as required.
* Updates and prepares filings for Annual and Semi-Annual Shareholder reports, proxy vote and NP-X to satisfy Sarbanes-Oxley and SEC compliance regulations. Submits files to the SEC in HTML format.
* Follows all network procedures for inputting time tracking using the Electronic Publishing database, FileMaker, which assures the compilation of accurate metrics, reporting, and billing by department management. Also follows all network procedures for document storage and file maintenance to keep servers organized, in the correct format and up-to-date.

QUALFICATIONS:

* Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years graphic/page layout and copyediting experience, preferably with financials
* Extensive project management experience, preferably in managing a high volume of projects in a fast paced, on-demand environment
* Knowledge of Enfocus PitStop and/or MarkzWare FlightCheck preferred
* Comprehensive knowledge of software and hardware used within Electronic Publishing
* Creates and updates Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint presentations , WordPerfect, EdgarEase, QuarkXpress, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop documents
* Demonstrates understanding of page layout formats, master pages, and style sheets
* Demonstrates understanding of various printing specifications, including folds, trapping, color, resolution
* Demonstrates understanding of graphics formats, including TIF, EPS, JPEG, GIF, etc
* Demonstrates understanding of printing process for b/w and 4/c process printing
* Ability to make decisions and problem solve when preparing files for output and document layout
* Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and creating PDFs
* Knowledge of Adobe GoLive and/or HTML
* Management of departmental resources used for cost saving, quality improvements and on time delivery
* Broad knowledge of graphic issues, art direction, print production and project management affecting printing, quality and on time delivery
* Has led ongoing enhancement of core products and processes
* Experience maintaining files and pre-flighting documents
* Extensive knowledge of art file preparation, graphic formats, 4 color process printing as well as high level of knowledge of digital workflows
* Knowledge of graphic design software and desktop publishing applications essential (including but not limited to HTML, InDesign, Quark, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
* Expert proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Portable Document Format (PDF)
* Experience using pre-flighting software such as PitStop
* Knowledge of graphic file formats and proficiency with both Mac and PC machines in a networked environment necessary
* Demonstrated ability in staff development, training, supervision and personnel management
* Outstanding organizational skills required in order to handle multiple projects simultaneously
* Detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work within schedules
* Must be a team leader and be able to work with little to no supervision
* High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year related work experience, or college degree.
