PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Retirement Specialist provides investment solutions to both prospects and customers. This position focuses on retirement opportunities (including IRA rollovers from existing T. Rowe Price defined contribution plans or external retirement plans) and sales calls for small business retirement plans. Specifically, the types of retirement plans sold are Money Purchase Pension, Profit Sharing, SEP, 403(b), SIMPLE, and VA. In doing so, Retirement Specialists help T. Rowe Price acquire new assets, retain existing assets and capture a greater share of customers' and prospects' assets in a manner consistent with the T. Rowe Price brand. Retirement Specialists accomplish this objective by building client relationships, utilizing the conversation selling model to determine client needs and providing guidance on investment products and strategies through inbound and outbound calls.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Uses the conversation model to answer incoming calls from retired/terminated retirement participants and sales calls from small business owners.

* Places outbound calls to retirement participants that have been qualified and referred to the group for further assistance or education on their retirement options.

* Works with the Retail Account Management (RAM) and Retirement Plan Services (RPS) processing departments to ensure that the money is properly and efficiently moved from the 401(k) plan to the IRA. Handles all HOT situations where the process is not working smoothly.

* Provides customer service to terminated participants that have not chosen to distribute or roll over accounts. Services may include research, trades, loans and general inquiries.

* Responsible for working with Small Business plan owners and guiding them into a plan most appropriate for their business. This could entail answering questions on Keogh's, SEPs and SIMPLE plans as well as small business 401k's.

* Researches outstanding issues or difficult inquiries from customers.

* Helps in the development of newer representatives to the group.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* College degree preferred
* Sales experience preferred
* 1 - 3 yrs industry experience preferred
* In-depth knowledge of qualified retirement products and small business retirement plans preferred
* Strong communication and PC skills
* NASD Series 7 & Series 66 within first 4 months in the role
* College degree, or a high school diploma/equivalent and a minimum of two years related work experience required
